MAX SINÀL HEIT005

Max Sinàl brings our fifth HEIT Mix. An incredible submission that flows through genres seamlessly, building slowly into a steady minimal tech mix.

A journey through deep house, minimal tech and hypnotic afterhours grooves, woven with soulful textures and understated energy; Max’s submission is a beautiful example of the creativity that exists in a flow state, taking us on a journey which ends up in a completely different space to any of our previous mixes.

This mix was recorded 8 years ago, back in 2018, and Max has held onto it ever since, not knowing if it would ever be put out into the world or remain something just for personal listening. But when we reached out to Max, he very quickly knew that this mix aligned with the HEIT sound and identity. We are excited to finally be releasing this absolute mastery of a mix.

Born and bred in East London, Max has had a lifelong interest in DJ’ing and music production, beginning his journey at the adolescent age of 14 and getting his own show on pirate radio by the age of 16.

Garage and House are the foundations of Max’s musical identity; his SoundCloud mix Garage Mix 1990 – 2001 is an ode to both his depth of knowledge and impressive vinyl collection.

In 2023, Max launched Soul Quest Records alongside Michael Mead and Leon Sweeney — a label rooted in soulful underground electronic music, blending deep house, broken beat, jazz and soul influences. Since launching, the label has already gained support from names such as Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, Danny Krivit and Soul Clap.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the mix, Max says:

“It’s that early sunrise stage when just a slither of light starts poking through, but also when your night is about to properly start. I love a good afterparty, the ones that go through different chapters, not just stagnant BPMs for hours on end.

This mix stemmed from one of those moments — it was probably about midday when I started going on the little trippy journey that inspired it. Without sounding too airy-fairy, you can almost become a musical shaman to someone’s trip with the right tunes at the right time.”

Tell us a bit about yourself and the mix…

Hello, my name is Max Sinàl.

I'm from Hackney, East London.

I recorded this mix around 8 years ago.

It was after I played like an extended after party set [in Ibiza] and it got to some ungodly hour the next afternoon. And [my set] went down a bit of a trippy route, playing some stuff that you wouldn't normally play on the dance floor.

When I got back to London, I tried to recreate it with as many of the tunes I could remember playing. And, this was the result of it!

What made you think of the mix as a submission all these years later?

I thought of HEIT for this set because it's something a little bit more experimental than what I would usually play.
Something that you can zone out to quite easily, but also showing quite a broad range of sounds without the energy level ever kind of coming to a climax.

I hope you enjoy it!

“This was a picture I took from the Ibiza trip that influenced this mix.” Max Sinàl
