A very exciting mix for the HEIT series. A well-loved friend on the dancefloor and respected DJ who has been on a different path from DJing in recent years, redirecting his life and furthering his religious practice.
We connected with JW (Joseph Williams) and discussed how, although his relationship with music has changed over time, his passion and love for it is still very much alive and remains an important part of his life. This mix has been in the making for some time, carefully curated by JW, bringing his ambient sound back to the mix series.
JW presents us with an experimental mix, weaving through cultured soundscapes with drums, chimes and natural elements, with touches of jazz woven throughout. It’s a considered and immersive journey through sound, reflecting a different side of his musical world and the way his relationship with music has evolved over time.
JW has played at respected events including FUSE and Art of Dark over the years, contributing to the rich dancefloor history that sits behind his practice.

Hey everyone, it’s JW. Thanks for listening to this ambient and experimental mix I’ve put together.
Tell us a bit about yourself and the mix…
For the past 10 years I have prioritised my faith, as a Christian, and I have enjoyed listening to music that helps me to focus and slow down.
So I have created this mix with my faith in mind, I’ve put together some tracks that I connect with, I also think there’s a thread of nostalgia running through it, as I like tracks with that mood as it makes me reflect on things so usually I’ll gravitate towards tracks that are a warm light ethereal .
Are there any special tracks [with meaning to you] featured in the mix?
A highlight track for me would be 27 minutes in, and it’s called “Along the Gleaming” by Outlier.
